The Special MP / MLA Court issued summons to Union Home Minister Amit Shah asking him to appear in person or through a lawyer on 22 February. Abhishek Banerjee’s lawyer Sanjay Basu had claimed that Amit Shah had made derogatory statements against the TMC MP during a BJP rally in Kolkata.

Court order, Amit Shah to present himself or through lawyer

The Special Judge of the MP / MLA court has directed Amit Shah to appear in person or through a lawyer by 10 am on February 22. The judge has directed that Shah’s presence is necessary either by himself or through a lawyer to answer in a defamation case filed under section 500 of the IPC.
