Bengaluru, Feb 20 (Language) Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah said on Saturday that he has constructed a Ram temple in his village, along with the people involved in the collection of donations for the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Urged to be responsive, as it is public money. The former chief minister accused the BJP of playing with people’s feelings in the name of God, saying that they too have faith in God, but for them, faith is a personal matter and should not be used as a political weapon. He said, “… there is nothing that only those who give money should ask for the account.” Siddaramaiah said, “What I have said is that in the past also during the Ayodhya movement, money and bricks were collected for the Ram temple … did they give account of this?” Talking to journalists in Mysuru While stating that it has been said that 1,500 crore rupees have been collected so far, it should be accounted for, not all 135 crore people may have given it, but it is public money. He asked, “I am not telling about any corruption, but have to be accounted for .. They are accountable … If they do not give any account, then does not there be doubt about its misuse?” He said that the people collecting donations are accountable to the people of the country. He was replying to the statements of BJP leaders stating who Siddaramaiah was, who asked for the account, when he did not give any donation. Siddaramaiah had earlier said that he would not donate to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya as it would be built at the disputed site. The Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly accused the BJP of trying to gain sympathy in the name of God, which is part of its campaign. He said that people are paying for Shri Ram and his temple and not for BJP. He said that “There are Ram temples everywhere, not only in Ayodhya, but there are Ram temples in every village. A Ram temple has been constructed in my village too. People have contributed to it.”
