He said tear gas was getting spoiled for a long time, so he used it.

We have a large amount of tier gas left now. Sheikh Rashid’s statement came at a time when government employees also took to the streets to protest against Prime Minister Imran Khan, demanding a salary hike.
Police fired tear gas shells at unarmed employees
At the behest of the Pakistani government, which used to keep everyone under control with sticks and guns, the police not only fired tear gas shells at these unarmed employees, but also tried to chase them with sticks. Police have also arrested several employees gathered near the Pakistani Secretariat on Wednesday. The demonstrations were held in several areas including the secretariat block, cabinet block and constitution avenue in the capital Islamabad.
A large number of employees also staged protests outside the National Press Club in Islamabad. It also included employees stationed in Balochistan and Punjab. The protesters later started a march towards the Parliament House. After which the police nabbed sticks while firing tear gas shells. The Imran government linked the security of the country to the movement of the employees on the streets of Islamabad. Information Minister Shibli Faraj said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is very concerned about the safety of the Red Zone and the movement of employees. He claimed that Imran Khan has directed the concerned ministries to resolve the staff issues immediately.
Sheikh Rashid has been in controversies before too
Pakistan minister Sheikh Rashid, who is often in the limelight with his ludicrous statements, had threatened nuclear war some time ago without naming India. Rashid, who has given a statement of having at least one hundred and fifteen hundred atomic bombs near Pakistan, said that now the war will not be in the traditional way, but there will be nuclear war. In response to a question, Sheikh Rashid said that there would no longer be a war that tanks, cannons would go on for 4-6 days while there would be direct nuclear war.
