New Delhi, February 19 (Language) In January, retail inflation for agricultural laborers and rural laborers declined to 2.17 per cent and 3.25 per cent respectively. The main reason for this is the low prices of some food items. These inflation rates in December 2020 were 2.35 percent and 3.34 percent respectively. The Ministry of Labor said in a statement, “The point-to-point rate of inflation was reduced in January 2021 based on CPI-AL (Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Laborers) and CPI-RL (Consumer Price Index for Rural Laborers). 2.17 percent and 2.35 percent. These rates were earlier in December 2020 respectively.

These rates were earlier at 3.25 percent and 3.34 percent respectively in December 2020. “Inflation based on CPI-AL and CPI-RL food indices stood at 1.02 percent and 1.22 percent respectively in January 2021. January 2021 Country-level CPI-AL and CPI-RL fell by nine points and eight points to 1,038 and 1,045 points respectively. Food segment was the major contributor to the decline in the general index of agricultural laborers and rural laborers. The reason for this is in the prices of pulses, onions, potatoes, cauliflower and brinjal. The decline or increase in this index varies from one state to another. In terms of agricultural workers, there was a decline of one to 20 points from 18 states. In Kerala it rose by 15 points, while in Madhya Pradesh the index remained steady. The index declined by two to 20 points in 17 states in terms of rural workers. The index rose by two to 15 points in two states, while it remained steady in Madhya Pradesh.
