Ahmedabad, Feb 21 (PTI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday cast his vote for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation election at a polling station here and expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory in the civic body elections. Voting is going on for the elections of six municipal corporations in Gujarat – Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar. The BJP has been ruled by six corporations for the last several terms. Shah is registered as a voter here. He along with his family members exercised their franchise at a polling station located at Naranpura sub-divisional office of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. After casting their votes, senior BJP leaders and their family members offered prayers at the nearby Kamnath Mahadev Temple. Later, talking to reporters, Shah expressed confidence that the BJP would win the municipal elections in Gujarat. He said, “The BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged victorious all over the country. I am sure that Gujarat, from where the BJP’s Vijay Yatra started, will again establish itself as a BJP stronghold.” Shah said that the BJP’s development journey started under Modi’s leadership is continuing across the country, and many states have taken inspiration from it. “I am sure that voters will vote in large numbers and development will win,” he said. Tight security arrangements have been made at the polling booth where Shah and his family members cast their votes. The counting of the body elections will be held on Tuesday.
