New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) The Wireless Monitoring Cell of the Department of Telecommunications has removed 48 mobile signal boosters at Connaught Place in the national capital. A senior official of the department gave this information on Monday. The official said that the wireless monitoring organization is also campaigning against this illegal device in other parts of Delhi and making people aware of it. “We have removed 48 mobile signal boosters at Connaught Place,” Devendra Kumar Rai, engineer-in-charge of the International Monitoring Station, told PTI. People are not aware that this device is illegal. When we inform them about this, they cooperate and remove them. ”Illegal mobile signal repeaters continue to be a major problem. Because of this, consumers have to face the problems of call drop and low data speed. These illegal repeaters are installed in homes by individual people or in offices by establishments to speed up the mobile signal. Rai said that the mobile signal improves once the booster is removed. The DoT team is conducting raids in the South Delhi district against mobile signal boosters. Telecom companies constantly raise the issue of illegal boosters before the department, as it affects the quality of their services. During the last year and a half, the Department of Telecommunications has removed 500 such illegal devices.
