Raipur, Feb 20 (Language) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has demanded a special package for industrial development in the state. The Public Relations Department of the state issued a release on Saturday, saying that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel attended the sixth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog held today through video conferencing under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the release, during the meeting, the Chief Minister gave information about the schemes and policies of the state government on the subjects like development of industries, development of agriculture sector, development of infrastructure, increase of irrigation facility in Bastar zone and development of Naxal affected areas. The Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister in the meeting to provide additional economic resources to Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister said during this time that Chhattisgarh is a forested, tribal dominated and mineral-rich state, there is a need for special package for industrial development. According to the release, Baghel said in the meeting that Chhattisgarh is deprived of coal block despite having large reserves of coal in Chhattisgarh. He said that due to non-increase in royalty rates of minerals after 2014, the state government is suffering irreparable loss, so the royalty rates should be revised soon. The Chief Minister has also requested not to disinvest the Nagarnar Steel Plant of Bastar in the meeting. In the meeting, Chief Minister Baghel said that in the meeting, the GST compensation from the Prime Minister, the amount of additional levy on coal, the balance of rice in the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana under PDS, the total amount of the state’s right amounted to Rs. Demand to be made available soon and the amount of excise duty to be paid to the state should be kept undone. According to the official release, the Chief Minister requested the meeting to approve the establishment of Kargou Hub in Raipur to promote the development and export of industries and to provide port facilities for export. He also urged the Prime Minister to allow the state to produce ethanol from surplus paddy, to take 60 lakh tonnes of rice from Chhattisgarh in the central pool and to give subsidy to the state’s vermi compost producing farmers like chemical fertilizers.
