A surrendered Naxalite girl hanged herself in a restroom in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Dantewada district. Police officials of Dantewada district said on Tuesday that the surrendered Naxalite girl Pandey Kavasi has given her death by hanging in the women’s rest room of DRG office located at the district headquarters. The girl is twenty years old.
Police officials said that on the 19th of this month, a prize money of Rs five lakh was surrendered by Naxalite Jogi Kavasi and Naxalite girl Pandey Kavasi, affected by the ongoing Lone Varratu (Come Back Home) campaign in the district. He said that after surrendering, Pandey Kavasi was staying with another woman Naxalite Jogi Kavasi in the DRG office ladies rest room.
During this time, two women policemen were deployed for security. Police officials said that on Tuesday afternoon, Pandey Kavasi went to take a bath. He informed Jogi Kavasi and two other women police personnel about this, when after about 20 minutes Pandey Kawasi did not get out of the bathroom, then Jogi Kawasi and two women policemen pushed the door open. As soon as the door opened, he saw that Pandey Kavasi had hanged it with a help of a window.
Police officials said that after getting information about the incident, the doctors also reached the women’s rest room, where they declared Pandey Kavasi dead after the test. He said that the police has sent the dead body for postmortem and started investigating the case.
