Bhubaneswar, Feb 22 (Language) The total number of infections in the state has increased to 3,36,636 after 58 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Odisha. Besides this, an official of the Health Department said that after the recovery of 58 more people, the number of people who have become infection free has also increased to 3,34,107. The recovery rate of patients in the state is 99.24 percent and the death rate from COVID-19 is 0.56 percent. The official said that these new cases came up in 18 districts and out of 58, 34 new cases in separate habitat centers and other 24 cases earlier.

Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur are COVID-19 free districts, there is not a single active case of the virus. He said that since Saturday, no cases of virus deaths have been reported in the state and the death toll remains at 1,914. 53 other patients of COVID-19 have also died due to other diseases from which they were already suffering. There are 562 people undergoing treatment for corona virus infection in the state, which is 0.16 percent of the total cases of infection in the state. So far, more than 81.67 lakh samples of COVID-19 have been tested, the official said. Meanwhile, a 56-year-old officer died in Puri’s ‘Swargadwar Urban Public Health Center’ on Saturday. He was vaccinated by COVID-19. Puri District Magistrate Samarth Verma said that the exact cause of his death is being ascertained and a team of experts in Cuttack is doing a post-mortem of his body.
